When should you order?
I am usually booked up SIX MONTHS IN ADVANCE for large props such as swords, spears, staffs, scythes...anything beginning with S.....XD
In all seriousness, for large props (anything over 1 foot in length), please email me at least SIX MONTHS before your needed by date. For example, if your convention is in June, I need to have received an email from you with the information on the Order Page by December. Once a large prop spot is taken, it's taken, and I only have about 3 of those per month because large props take at least a month to finish.
Small props such as microphones, daggers, etc are more negotiable because they take less time to finish.
What I do:
daggers/dirks
swords/short swords/keyblades/gunblades
spears and staffs
scythes
folding fans
shuriken/chakram
other custom weapons (besides guns - see below)
What I'm open to doing with some negotiation:
oversized weapons (i.e. Final Fantasy VII's Buster Sword)
guns (cons have stringent policies regarding guns, and it depends on the convention)
other small handheld props
I am always willing to enter negotiations with you for a prop, so if you have questions about any of the above, don't hesitate to email me.
Who I do it for:
anime/video game cosplayers
sci-fi costumers (i.e. Star Wars)
fantasy costumers (i.e. Lord of the Rings)
*If you are a Ren Faire costumer or reenactor, I will do props upon request; however, I do know that most Ren Faire costumers and reenactors prefer historical accuracy with their props, and I don't usually follow that.
What I DON'T do:
costume clothing
armor
boot covers
jewelry
wigs and headpieces
**I reserve the right to refuse any commission request which seems to me excessively difficult, unreasonable, offensive or degrading.**
*DISCLAIMER* Because I don't have a set pricing chart, people like to ask about a pricing "range." On the low end, I have made short swords costing around $65 to the high end legendary steampunk chainsaw (XD), which cost around $300.
Good props are not cheap to make! The last thing I want to do is to be unfriendly...but far too many people think that because they can get a cheap plastic sword at Wal-Mart for $15 that commissioned props will cost the same. I work hard on these, and like any craftsman who makes handmade items, would like to be fairly compensated for my work. So please read all policy and pricing information before sending me an order email. Thanks!!! <3
Pricing is on a case-by-case basis depending on:
-materials used
-size and intricacy of the prop
-time it takes to make the prop
-shipping and handling (including packaging, gas to the post office, etc)
...and any other miscellaneous factors that may crop up. I don't have a set price for any kind of weapon or prop, so the best thing to do if you think you would like something is to email me! I am pretty friendly and would love to discuss prop making and pricing with you ^_^
After we have agreed on a price and timeframe, I will send you a written contract to be signed. Usually I will require half the payment as a non-refundable deposit to be due up front and the remaining half to be due before delivery.
Rush orders may be possible with extra fee. As a rule, I need at least 2 weeks to make a small prop, and longer if it is larger, so rush orders are on case-by-case basis.
I send all my small to mid-size commissions by USPS, Priority Mail with tracking, unless requested otherwise. UPS or any other express mail service can be used with an extra shipping charge.
I send all large weapons via UPS. Extra charges will apply in this case because of the size and weight of the weapon.
I WILL ship internationally outside the U.S. - however, be aware that shipping charges will be much more expensive.
I am based in the Boston area and frequent two cons a year: Anime Boston and Otakon. I also live within driving distance of Another Anime Convention (NH) and Connecticon (CT) If the props you request are for one of these conventions, I am happy to offer at-con pickup for you!
